You don’t need to know how to sing to take part in a Voice circle. It is not about singing but rather sounding and freeing the sound of your voice to express itself. It can be simply producing vowels – called toning – or it can singing mantras.
These practices of using the voice to get to altered state of presence are found in many ancient and modern spiritual traditions.
The voice is often referred to as the “muscle of the soul.”
When we connect with our true voice, we tap into our soul’s essence, feeling its presence throughout our entire being. Singing brings us home to ourselves, aligning us with our purest form—beyond labels, attachments, or status.
We are all born with a beautiful, authentic voice, yet over time, judgments and self-doubt cover it up. As we grow older, we often lose the spontaneity and joy of singing, much like we lose touch with the carefree spirit of childhood. Rediscovering and freeing our true voice is a liberating process that extends far beyond singing. It enables us to speak our truth and be our authentic selves.
Singing or toning also strengthens our connection to the breath, grounding us in the present moment. As we practice toning long vowels, we naturally shift from shallow to deeper breathing. This deeper breathwork can help us release repressed emotions, offering gentle healing. The more we sing and tone, the more deeply we breathe, leading to greater presence and a lighter, freer feeling.
Warm up
We will start the session with a body warm up with simple exercises using simple movements, breathing and sometimes sounding.
Vocal toning
we will take a time to connect inwards and connect to our voice and what is here for us.
Intention setting
From this time we will choose an intention for the session.
Practice of vocal toning, chant or mantra
we will then use our voice to support this intention through sounding and/or mantra singing.
Ground
We will finish the session by grounding our energy back to our body and the here and now, ready for the rest of our day or a good night sleep.
Close
We will close the circle with gratitude and awareness of what unfolded during the session, to open our hearts and energy for the days or weeks ahead.
Life and Inner world explorer
Hi, I'm Laetitia
With a lifelong passion for the performing arts, I had been exploring the body as a source of liberation for some time when I came across Sophrology in my 20's.
I was amazed by what I discovered…. A fascinating, vibrant interior world, and practical resources for transforming into a more balanced and anchored self.
My greatest desire is for all women to feel this sense of freedom, peace, and deep inner support.
